I learned that he was a jew who was born in Germany and grew up in France. He was contributor for Bourbaki and worked with the guy who received his first field medal. He did ground breaking work in Modern Algebraic Geometry. His work encompassed Sheaf theory, Commutative algebra. He gave algebraic proof of Riemann roch theorem.He received fields medal in 1966. Between 1980-90 he wrote lots of papers.In 2010 he tried to practically eradicate all his past life. He died on 13 November 2014 at age of 86 in south france.
